It’s hard to say that The Elisha Foundation is based out of Oregon because truly their heart is for the disabled throughout the world. You may have seen a little while back the video we posted about The Elisha Foundation (TEF) doing a trip to Mt. Everest Base Camp in order to raise awareness for the cause of the disabled worldwide, but here is a little about the organization as a whole.

Their work comes in three main parts:

Respite: is when TEF and volunteers give parents a much needed break of the constant care they are giving to their special-needs child and their siblings.

Retreat: throughout the country, TEF puts on retreats to not only reach out to families with special-needs to provide refreshment and encouragement but also to teach/train the local church about ministry among the disabled.

Reach: in other countries, many times, the disabled are lacking needed services or are shunned by the people around them; TEF has the heart to show these children and people that they have worth and are worth of investment.

TEF is an organization that does not charge anything to the families they serve, so come be a part of what they are doing.

The Elisha Foundation is an organization with a heart to serve the disabled and their families both in their local community and worldwide. The Reimer family started The Elisha Foundation after their son was born with Down’s Syndrome. Out of this experience, they have developed a passion to love and serve the people in the disabled community and have devoted a significant amount of their lives to this cause.

The Elisha Foundation (TEF) is in the midst of an epic journey, one in which they are seeking to gather together a group of people to trek to the base camp of Mt. Everest. Their vision is to see this trek change lives, increase the voice of the disabled community worldwide and raise funds to support the relief and educational efforts of The Elisha Foundation pursues.

Below is the story of how two men who hadn’t been in contact in years gathered around this effort and dreamed with the Lord to see his plan come forth. We are excited and thankful to have spend a few days with them, getting to know their spirits and being encouraged and the great scope of their pursuit with God. Our prayer is that you are also encouraged by their story and their willingness to go forth into God’s plan.

Spending time with the Reimer family, our time in Bend has been filled with getting a grasp of the vision and scope of their ministry, while at the same time, seeing them step out to make their reach even further into the world of special needs.

This is a peek of what’s to come from our time here, from the passion of this family and their pursuit of overcoming limitations.

There is a movement going on through the jungle region of Ecuador. Based in the city of Shell or Shell Mera, (the city that Jim Elliot and fellow missionaries were based in before flying out to different tribal regions of the Ecuadorian Amazon) CLIPAE is part of what is known as the third wave of missions into the jungle.

The first wave occurred in the 1950′s and 60′s bringing foreign missionaries into the region to plant churches and translate the Bible into the Indigenous languages. The Second wave consisted of Mestizo or Latinos doing similar work in the jungle region. During the 1980′s and 90′s after missionaries left, the regions churches dwindled and went into disrepair. Some local Indigenous people felt the call of God for their own people and have since then picked up the work.

CLIPAE stands for the Council of Indigenous Leaders of the Ecuadorian Amazon Region. They are not only a council but also a support to the pastors and tribal churches in the region. The work is not easy and some of the villages are extremely remote, at times taking up to 8 or more days to walk to. Flights are can be hard to come by or too expensive, especially for an Indigenous missionary.

Because of the nature of the mission, the work that CLIPAE is doing to unify, uplift, and support the Indigenous churches is essential for the health and well-being of the churches in the region. Take a look at the way CLIPAE is raising up Indigenous people to serve the Indigenous Church.

Meaning The Source, the church called La Fuente in Quito, Ecuador is a church plant that was put in the heart of 4 people, 2 Ecuadorians and 2 Americans.

Seeing the disconnect between what the church is (and is supposed to be) and what society and culture in Ecuador is; La Fuente is lifting up the values of truth, community, and mission.

Truth: the truths of the Scriptures make us free to follow the purpose for which we were created.

Community: Christ saved us, not to live in isolation, rather, to live as a family, producing an atmosphere of discipleship, growth, spiritual nourishment, and fellowship in the mission that God has given us.

Mission: We are called to be light and salt, knowing, loving and serving others, to also be redeemed by the power of the Gospel. This mission begins with our circle of influence extends to all nations. In addition, the mission of God shows mercy to the oppressed, hurt and rejected, and encourages his followers to show compassion, both in deed and in word.
